Events & Places of Interest
There's more to Seattle than just rain and coffee!
Since the 1962
World's Fair, Seattle's icon has been
the towering Space
Needle located at Seattle
Center.
This large park is home to the Seattle Opera, the
Pacific Science Center, the retro-futuristic Alweg
Monorail and the acclaimed Experience
Music Project interactive music history (and science fiction) museum.
From the heights of the skyline to subterranean
depths, Seattle long ago solved New Orleans'
problem by simply
raising the streets. You can view the buried downtown
of yore on the Seattle
Underground Tour, just one
of many interesting things to do in Seattle's historic
Pioneer
Square.
Not
far north of Pioneer Square is the venerable
Pike
Place Market. The Market barely escaped the
wrecking ball in the heyday of "urban renewal" but
is now one of Seattle's great destinations
for locals and tourists alike. Not too far
from Pike
Place (and
right around the corner from our hotel) is
the Seattle
Art Museum.
Seattle is, of course, the jet city and many historic
aircraft (including Air Force 1 and a French Concorde)
are on display at the Museum
of Flight, one of
the largest air and space museums in the world.
There are many things to see and do in Seattle.
